Letters to America is a citywide letter-writing project to mark the 250th anniversary of the United States. Chicagoans are invited to reflect on their lives, communities and experiences in Chicago and how those stories connect to a broader American story. Queer Letters to America seeks to preserve the perspectives of LGBTQ+ Chicagoans specifically at a moment of historical upheaval and to resist their erasure from the historical record.
The letters collected during this program will become part of a permanent archival collection at Chicago Public Library's Northside Neighborhood History Center, safeguarding queer voices for future generations.
Drop by Fathom any time during the program to write your letter. Materials provided.
